Outdoor maternity photography Melbourne – Jess and Macie
Jess 36 weeks, Melbourne maternity photography
It’s your third trimester of pregnancy and soon you’ll meet your gorgeous baby. You’ve wondered so many things from what labour will be like, to the colour of your newborns hair.
You’re getting everything ready from the nursery to the baby bag, the rush of emotions are happening and it’s feeling very real. The thought of newborn and maternity photography might have even crossed your mind.
How women feel about their pregnancy is vastly different, we have all gone on different journeys to become pregnant and it’s very personal. All of those feelings will influence whether you decide to have a maternity photography session.
I’ll be honest I chose not to have a maternity photography session with my first pregnancy and I do unfortunately regret it. I hear this a lot as well, it can be hard to even want to have photographs when your body is rapidly changing, pregnancy might be hard and you just feel ‘bluh’.
My second pregnancy was much harder and I was even more self conscious, however I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to capture my baby bump and this significant time in my life. So I did what I know would push me to actually commit and that was a fabulous dress, hair/makeup and a gorgeous location.
I would never push someone to have a maternity photography session, however I’d like to get you to think about it, find what will make you feel fabulous and not to miss the opportunity.
I am always over the moon with excitement when friends or new clients approach me about a maternity photography session, as this is an incredible milestone in our lives. Creating a dream maternity session is a pure joy, understanding and getting to know you and what your ideas are. Then bringing it all to life and showing you how truly amazing you are, really a love of mine.
Jess and her daughter are just gorgeous inside and out, immediately I knew a mother daughter maternity session would be special and memorable. Jess was very relaxed and open to any suggestions, so I was happy to take the lead and create a dreamy session for them both. I knew a beautiful location close to where she lives, which is so important when you have a toddler. Sunset maternity photography sessions create a beautiful atmosphere and really set the scene. I knew which colours would suit Jess and her daughter Macie and against the scenery.
Prepared with my bag of tricks for active toddler Macie, we made this a quick 20-30 min session as toddlers at sunset and anytime during the day have a short window of attention and for photographs. I was so pleased to capture this special time in Jess’s life and now she also has gorgeous portraits with her daughter that she didn’t have before.
Here are a few photographs from Jess and Macie’s mother daughter photography session.
If your dreaming about having a session with me in the future I am accepting inquiries for maternity, newborn and family photography sessions.

PS I’m a big believer in education and correct information, I do get asked a lot of questions about pregnancy, but I’m not a midwife. So always consult the appropriate health care professional and here is a great resource too from The Royal Women’s Hospital.
